FOX SPOT: THREE BAD FOXES
This illustration from the talented Rob Hodgson is proof that even foxes come in all shapes and sizes.
Vogue Fashion’s Night Out with Gwilym Gold
At our Floral Street store (Covent Garden) this Thursday we are pleased to have Gwilym Gold (ex-Golden Silvers frontman) among the DJs playing tunes to shop and dance to. Since Golden Silvers, Gwilym has been doing some really interesting and clever music stuff, working with producer Lexxx, who has previously worked with Aubin favourites Bjork and Florence and the Machine. You can check out his new developments at gwilymgold.com but for now, to get us in the mood to party, wrap your ears and eyes around Golden Silvers ‘Arrows of Eros’.
FOX SPOTTING: JIMBOBART
Anyone looking for some crafty bits of pieces and a general good ol’ first Thursday shinding could do no worse than to pop down to Brixton’s Dogstar tonight, where the Crafty Fox Pop Up Market will be showing off some of the lands finest home-spun goodies. Items on offer vary from hand enamelled plates (as per the fantastic Jimbobart) to knitted moustaches.
TRACK OF THE WEEK:
Male Bonding, Tame the Sun
Despite Male Bonding’s Dalston E8 postcode if you close your eyes ‘Tame the Sun’ will plonk you on a beach in California for 2.28 minutes (which can’t be a bad thing considering how miserable this August has been.) Yesterday saw the release of the East London trio’s new album “Endless Now”, which is where our track of the week directly hails. It’s unashamedly 90s, trendy and very catchy but you might as well turn it up, rip a hole in the knee of your jeans and surrender now, as 90s is the flavour of the month- haven’t you heard that Nirvana’s “Nevermind” has just turned 20?

DANNY SANGRA, THE CEREAL BOX KID
Artist and illustrator Danny Sangra just finished a very successful month-long stint at the Aubin Gallery where he exhibited an exciting overview of his many practices- including a showreel of films. Incase, like me, you didn’t already know that Danny made films then check out this cute short film/music video, “The Cereal Box Kid”.

TRACK OF THE WEEK:
Cat’s Eyes, Face in the Crowd
Ok, so Cat’s Eyes self-titled debut album was released in March, which may seem we’re a bit slow on the uptake but in actual fact we bought it immediately and proceeded to lose it down the back of a drawer - thankfully it has just been rediscovered and given a well deserved listen to. “Face in the Crowd” is the track that took us by surprise with its unexpected pop sensibility and equal measures of darkness and light, courtesy of Horrors frontman, Faris Badwan and etheral soprano, Rachel Zeffira respectively.

TRACK OF THE WEEK:
Blood Orange, Sutphin Boulevard
Blood Orange is the latest musical incarnation to come from self-confessed audio-geek, Dev Hynes. Following previous guises in screamo outfit Test-Icicles and melancholic folk one-piece Lightspeed Champion, Blood Orange documents a new and distinctive change to this Essex boy’s style. Maybe it’s got something to do with his new friendship with Jay-Z and the Knowles sisters? Whatever it is we don’t care, just give us more of those sexy pop riffs.

The Beret:
Make like a beatnick and put a little Englishness into Parisian Sophisticat with a tweed beret, less ‘Oo-la-la’, and more ‘How do you do sir!’

In conjunction with our friends over at Creative Review, we are giving away 3 pairs of tickets for this year’s Tweed Run. The 500 places were taken within 7 minutes of going online, however, as we’re sponsoring the April 9th jaunt we have snagged some spare places.
All you need to do if you fancy a fun bike ride round London in period garb is just tweet TWEED ME @aubinandwills with the hashtag #tweedrun.
