TRACK OF THE WEEK:
Two Gallants, Steady Rollin’
To celebrate the Two Gallants coming back from the dead we have dusted off this 2006 hit - IT’S AMAZING. A refreshing slice of gritty Americana blues with a story to tell, perfect for a sunny day - now just imagine you’re sat on a bale of hay.

TRACK OF THE WEEK:
Friends, I’m His Girl
This funk-pop Brooklyn five piece are insanely cool (who isn’t in Brooklyn?) and make undeniably catchy music… what’s not to like? We love this bouncy, up-beat single, the first from their debut album due for release later this year. Already tipped for great things in the BBC’s Sound of 2012, expect to see and hear a lot more from Friends.

TRACK OF THE WEEK:
Niki & The Doves, The Fox
Eccentric Swedish duo Niki & The Doves drew inspiration for this track from a Scandinavian children’s story in which the main character shares her problems with a fox who takes and buries them in the ground. The song is a haunting combination of a pagan fairytale clashing with an electro-pop chorus.
Also highly recommended from this group is their debut single, DJ ease my mind, which imposes the sharp vocals of Malin Dahlstrôm over a deep sonorous soundscape. With their recent spurt of releases propelling them to 5th place in the BBC Sound of 2012 countdown, Niki & The Dove are definitely ones to watch.

Daniel Norgren, I Could Even Grow A Moustache For You
We have been struggling to find any real info out on this superbly eccentric Swede, other than he is Swedish and signed to Superpuma Records. What we can ascertain is; he has a super blonde beard, can play the blues like he met the Devil at the crossroads and is a master of bizarre song titling. So as it’s Movember, this blues fulled fest feels utterly appropriate. Go Norgren.

TRACK OF THE WEEK:
Chairlift, Amanaemonesia
We’ve loved Brooklyn-based Chairlift since their first album ‘Does you inspire you’, a love that was only temporarily averted by the insane overexposure of ‘Bruises’ on an old iPod advert, you know the one… ‘I tried to do handstands for you, I tried to do handstands for you etc etc’. With that now thankfully in the past and a new album on the horizon, we are lapping up every release we come across. ‘Something’ is out in January 2012, released by Young Turks, the label behind The xx and SBTRKT. If you like this you’ll love their second release ‘Sidewalk Safari’, which you can download for free at www.abeano.com.

TRACK OF THE WEEK:
Male Bonding, Tame the Sun
Despite Male Bonding’s Dalston E8 postcode if you close your eyes ‘Tame the Sun’ will plonk you on a beach in California for 2.28 minutes (which can’t be a bad thing considering how miserable this August has been.) Yesterday saw the release of the East London trio’s new album “Endless Now”, which is where our track of the week directly hails. It’s unashamedly 90s, trendy and very catchy but you might as well turn it up, rip a hole in the knee of your jeans and surrender now, as 90s is the flavour of the month- haven’t you heard that Nirvana’s “Nevermind” has just turned 20?

TRACK OF THE WEEK:
Cat’s Eyes, Face in the Crowd
Ok, so Cat’s Eyes self-titled debut album was released in March, which may seem we’re a bit slow on the uptake but in actual fact we bought it immediately and proceeded to lose it down the back of a drawer - thankfully it has just been rediscovered and given a well deserved listen to. “Face in the Crowd” is the track that took us by surprise with its unexpected pop sensibility and equal measures of darkness and light, courtesy of Horrors frontman, Faris Badwan and etheral soprano, Rachel Zeffira respectively.

TRACK OF THE WEEK:
Blood Orange, Sutphin Boulevard
Blood Orange is the latest musical incarnation to come from self-confessed audio-geek, Dev Hynes. Following previous guises in screamo outfit Test-Icicles and melancholic folk one-piece Lightspeed Champion, Blood Orange documents a new and distinctive change to this Essex boy’s style. Maybe it’s got something to do with his new friendship with Jay-Z and the Knowles sisters? Whatever it is we don’t care, just give us more of those sexy pop riffs.

TRACK OF THE WEEK:
Bon Iver, Minnesota, WI
An album we were set to label as our ‘album of the Summer’ - before Summer stubbornly refused to show its head after a bit of a tease in April - is the self titled 10 track beauty from Bon Iver.
We won’t go into a geeky breakdown of the album, but this track evokes the thought of trekking through water strewn valleys and is one of the punchier (by Bon Iver standards) tracks featured. We’d highly recommend debut LP For Emma, Forever Ago if you find this in any way at all to your liking.
Enjoy, and come on Summer!

Tom Vek, Aroused
Our super-hip copywriter recommended Tom Vek’s Leisure Seizure to us last week, and we have been completely hooked since. This track - incidentaly the first single from the album - will hopefully send you bouncing into the weekend.

TRACK OF THE WEEK:
Victorian English Gentlemens Club, John Denver’s Wife
We are loving the VEGC’s new album, Bag of Meat. They seem to have been some sort of well kept secret for far too long now, and this, their third album, is another insight into the beautifully bizarre and scuzz-thumping world they have crafted after shrugging off early comparisons to the B-52s and The Cramps.
John Denver’s Wife is one of the more melodic tracks on the album; other highlights being the Stevie Smith inspired Not Waving But Drowning and the shuffling Lost My Face In A Fast Car Race.

TRACK OF THE WEEK:
Arctic Monkeys, Piledriver Waltz
Well, we’re still undecided on Suck It and See at Aubin & Wills HQ; some of us miss the moodiness of Humbug, others are loving the retro guitar sound on most of these new tracks.
Either way, this is our collective pick from the album and it’s definitely one of the more amusing song titles we have seen of late (I prefer Brick by Brick - as a track - to be honest, ed.).

TRACK OF THE WEEK: HEADLESS HEROES
Just Like Honey
A simply beautiful stripped down Jesus and Mary Chain cover. The smouldering, ghostly vocals are courtesy of Alela Diane, an emerging talent who has a touch of PJ Harevy in her delivery.

TRACK OF THE WEEK: PJ HARVEY,
THE LAST LIVING ROSE
What is there not to love about our Polly Jean? This track, taken from her new album Let England Shake, is sultry and full of descriptive beauty, ‘Take me back to beautiful England … filthy battered books, and fog rolling down behind the mountains.’
